Inspiring Architectural Fiberglass Model of the Night Sky
In 2003, Stromberg Architectural was commissioned to fabricate a curved, accurate model of the night sky for the National Museum of the American Indian. Inspiring and atmospheric, this model consists of thirteen 16×6 foot GFRP panels, all curved and decorated with fiber optic lights to imitate the stars in the night sky. If there was ever any question about the versatility of architectural fiberglass, this project proves that there is nothing the pros at Stromberg can’t do.
GFRP is Seamless and Smooth
The night sky is spread out infinitely and seamlessly. It has no rough edges, and no creases, wrinkles or divots. It takes a very special building material to imitate that effect. Fortunately, architectural fiberglass from Stromberg Architectural is seamlessly molded and perfectly smooth. Unlike sheetrock and plaster, which are always riddled with small irregularities, architectural fiberglass is the perfect material for flawless fabrications.
The Sky is the Limit with Architectural Fiberglass
This model of the night sky for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian is only one example of the limitless possibilities of architectural fiberglass. Stromberg has built custom bas reliefs for the Pentagon and sculptures for Caesar’s Palace. They even made the iconic franchise sign for The Cheesecake Factory. If you can dream it, the pros at Stromberg can build it.
