Architectural Fiberglass at the Winstar World Casino Part 3

Bringing the World to the Prairie with Stromberg

Though perhaps cliché, one of the founding maxims of good business is “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” This is exactly what the Winstar World Casino and Stromberg have managed to do together. Prior to Stromberg’s architectural makeover, the Winstar had an identity crisis. They wanted to be a world-class gaming destination, they had the location, the resources and the legislature to make that a reality, but they were missing one thing: the look.  Stromberg managed to give them exactly that without even disrupting a single day of commerce.

Putting the “World” in “World-Class” with Architectural Fiberglass

In addition to some of the architectural marvels of the world like Big Ben, the Parthenon and the Coliseum, Stromberg fabricated several areas of the Winstar World Casino that are more general. Wander long enough around the exterior of the casino, and you will find yourself in the streets of Europe. The Streetscape of Europe area features humble, old-world buildings huddled together like the charming, cozy townships of the Continent. Stromberg even managed to create the sense of pastiche associated with these streets by artificially fabricating a post-modern imitation of the development of a European community as it is built up over time. The buildings look like they were patched together over hundreds of years, just as they actually were in Europe. Continue on your exploration of the exterior of the casino, and you may just wander into the Far East which features traditional architecture from China and Japan. This Zen-inspired part of the Winstar is sure to evoke feelings of awe and wonder, and the pagoda will make visitors feel transported to a distant time and place.

Enter a Whole New World of GFRP

The wonders do not cease upon entering the Winstar Casino. Inside, visitors find themselves in one of several region-themed rooms, including New York City, Vienna and even ancient Egypt. Each of these sub-regions showcase features of their inspired historical location. The New York section includes a replica of the Statue of Liberty, a New York-style subway station and a mock-up of Central Park. Egypt sports two large-scale sphinxes, faux sandstone brickwork and hieroglyphics, and Vienna draws on the architecture of the historic Karlsplatz Plaza. Oklahoma may seem like it’s on the other side of the planet from Europe and Asia, but with the Winstar World Casino and Stromberg Architecture, you can have the world brought to you.
